My PS5 Slim Setup: Why I Skipped the Pro and Essential Accessories

Hello everyone! To celebrate the new year, I treated myself to a PS5 Slim. In this video, I’ll explain why I chose the PS5 Slim over the PS5 Pro, and what accessories are essential for a great gaming experience.

Why PS5 Slim, Not Pro?

  • Price: Not everyone can afford the PS5 Pro. We’re not poor, we’re smart! The PS5 Pro is, in my opinion, an overpriced product. Let me know what you think in the comments.
  • India Launch: The PS5 Pro hasn’t launched in India yet, and if my PS5 Pro were to malfunction, I wouldn’t be able to claim a warranty.
  • Third-Party Repairs: I don’t like the idea of getting my PS5 repaired by a third-party seller or retailer. They aren’t authorized and don’t offer any guarantees.
  • Casual Gamer: For a casual gamer like me, the PS5 Pro doesn’t offer enough to justify the extra cost.

Essential Accessories for the PS5 Slim

  1. PS5 Slim (Disc Edition): I bought the disc edition PS5 Slim for around ₹50,000.
  2. Metallic Blue Gamepad: I really liked the metallic blue color. It cost me ₹5,700. Besides the color, there’s no difference between the two gamepads.
  3. Alienware Gaming Monitor: I bought this Alienware monitor last Diwali. It’s a 27-inch 4K dual-resolution monitor. It offers two resolution options: native 4K gaming up to 180Hz or 1080p Full HD with a 360Hz refresh rate. It’s perfect for both gaming and productivity. It has a dedicated console mode, G-Sync compatibility, HDR support, variable refresh rate, and auto low latency mode. The only downside is that it doesn’t have a headphone jack. For this, I use an HDMI cable connected to my controller.
  4. Audio-Technica Headphones: These headphones are essential for late-night gaming so you don’t disturb anyone. These are the Audio-Technica ATH-50x wired professional headphones. I bought them in 2020. They’re the best professional headphones for gaming, listening to music, or anything else.
  5. UPS: If the power goes out while gaming, it can damage the console and the game disc. A UPS is therefore essential. I bought a reputable brand, the APC BX1100C IN. It supports up to 650 watts of power output, which is sufficient for me.

Total Cost

My total PS5 setup cost around ₹1,38,000, which is almost three times the price of the PS5 Slim itself. This doesn’t include the four games, which cost me an additional ₹10,000. You can reduce this amount by choosing less expensive monitors, speakers, or headphones.

Other Important Devices

Besides these devices, I also bought some other devices that I consider equally important, but they all cost less than ₹14,100. I made a separate video for them, which you can check out here.

Before you go, don’t forget to like the video, and I’ll see you very soon in the next video. Bye-bye!
